Screen test and audition

A YouTube video and a normal video file: the former displays my early usage and testing with a canon 550D which I intend to shoot my music video on.
The second video is for actor profiling, I intend to use 'Harry' in my music video as one of its many characters.

Cults 'Oh My God' Timeline With Script of My Music Video

Time With Mine

Above is a very important scribd document which lists all the key moments in Cults' 'Oh My God' where I may have some artistic opportunity. For example, may have a crescendo which will allow me to use a particularly dramatic piece of footage at that point. The document will help with filming too.

Timeline for Cults 'Oh My God'

Time

An important document which will be helpful in post production editing. These are all the seconds and minutes of the song and what occurs in those periods of time.

Test Shot

Here is a depth of field shot I took with a Canon 550D which I will be using to film my music video. As this technique will be required for close up shots it was important for me to learn how to achiee a high focus foreground with a blurry background.

Week Nine

This week I have created a facebook event for my music video shoot, inviting all the guests (both cast and crew) with details of what will happen. Luckily my call to arms was met with a reasonably speedy response.
As well as this I have drawn sketches for my digipak cover and have started storyboarding in a proper and 'official' method.

Digipack Rough Sketches

Posted by Picasa

Here are initial designs for the front cover of my digipack. I have decided to venture down the 'photographic' route and will edit through Adobe Photoshop. These designs show masked figures in the outdoors, standing against a depth of field with green branches in the foreground. There is also a design for an alternative cover which depicts a lone scarecrow standing in a field - though I prefer the animal-masked-figure designs.

Costume Prep

I have discussed the costumes for one of my models who is playing a 'nymph' in my music video. After the briefing she proceeded to photograph an outfit which matched my description as best as possible.

Shot Description for 23 Second Intro

23 seconds of intro music before vocals:
Silence introduces the audience, a bird’s eye view shot of a girl sleeping on the grass, and wind tassels her hair. It is night-time, but she is made visible through camera lighting. At the first ‘beat’ of the opening moments of the song, the girl’s eyelids snap open.
The first shot will include the girl from head to mid-torso. Her brown hair is sprawled out fluidly and her eyes are wide open in contrast with her previous tranquillity.
A medium shot from the side shows her begin to sit up and is completed by a frontal medium shot of her fully seated upright.
Her facial expression is one of wonderment – how did she get there? A flashing white light from her left causes her to turn her head towards the disturbance.
A side shot reveals her seated position on the grass – about 3 metres away a masked figure stands watching her. The figure is short, dressed in a white shirt and brown shorts and wears a rabbit mask. It holds a clock or a large watch under its arm/in his hand.
A close up shows the audience the girls startled face. Intercut of medium shots of the rabbit, standing motionless and watching her.
A long shot from the side of her shows the girl stand up to face the rabbit properly. The rabbit watches silently for a second or two, then whips round and dashes off to the end of the garden.

As the girl makes after the rabbit, the vocals begin.

Drawn Plans

Here can be seen the designs of several characters to be in my music video. They include a mad hatter persona and an innocent protagonist - a girl, an allusion to Alice herself.

Social Media to promote music video

I have utilised Facebook's 'event' facility to promote my music video via social media. I have created an event, accompanied with a description of my music video, what I aim to achieve and details such as location and times to arrive. As evidence of this I have taken a screenshot of the event. I have posted a few updates below in the comments section to keep my 'models' and 'crew' up-to-date.
