Inspiration

The costumes used in this video are particuarly fascinating to me. I hope to emulate this quirky quality and old fashioned, odd ambience.

The Vaccines - Norgaard. Very simple video which could potentially be achieved. There is a nice vintage look with the props used in the background and an interesting shot from a camera attached to a bike. The white photo-shoot background which is used is accessible at school.

Pulp - Do you remember the first time? The use of camera is very advanced and interesting in this video. The camera arcs outwards above the action, moving back down again and cutting as it meets the floor of the scene and cutting to a separate scene. Though it seems technical, it is potentially achievable, albeit with more accessible equipment. (In this video a crane is used for the arcing shots).

Chad Valley - "Shell Suite" from stereogum on Vimeo.

Here is the music video for 'Shell Suite' by Chad Valley. This video relies on powerful visuals and has a very pastoral, pagan feel - much like the effect I am trying to achieve. The girl in the white dress set against the natural environment reminds me of Emily Bronte's 'Wuthering Heights', particularly of the character Cathy and the backdrop of the Yorkshire moors.
This is also a good example of a music video which is entirely narrative based - though there isn't an actual story being told, the video follows a chronological sequence of events - focusing solely on the character of the girl. The video has no live performance from beginning to end.

Smirnoff 'Be There' ad. This is highly inspirational in terms of the creation of my music video. Though the costumes, location and props seem very difficult to achieve, I hope to emulate this quirky and slightly creepy ambiance.
